Fatal accident near Beit Shemesh: 42-year-old father killed days after son's Bar Mitzvah

Meir Turjeman (42) was killed tonight in a fatal car accident near Beit Shemesh; the date of his funeral has not yet been announced. Another person was killed in the accident, and a woman in her 40s was moderately injured.

Two private vehicles were involved in the collision that occurred on Highway 383 near Zekharia. MADA teams summoned to the scene were forced to pronounce both men dead on the spot and evacuated a woman in her 40s, who sustained moderate injuries, to the hospital.

Turjeman, a resident of Beit Shemesh, left behind nine children. Just a day before the accident, on Monday, he celebrated the Bar Mitzvah of one of his sons.

Police have opened an investigation into the crash; according to initial reports, it appears to be a head-on collision involving the two vehicles.

MADA paramedic Tzuriel Mayers, senior EMT Yehoshua Gottlieb, and EMT Shmuel Arieli, who treated the incident, recounted:

"We saw a man in his 40s lying on the side of the road unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with significant injuries, and another man trapped in his vehicle who was also unconscious. We performed medical checks, but to our great regret, they had no signs of life, and we had no choice but to pronounce them dead. At the same time, we provided medical treatment and evacuated a woman who was moderately injured to the hospital."
