The investigation explores whether Israel remains captive to outdated concepts and how terror elements in Judea and Samaria are preparing for scenarios even larger than the October 7 massacre.
The third and final episode of the investigative series "7.10 – Judea and Samaria version" aired this Wednesday on Channel 14, concluding a series that examined the threat posed by the Palestinian Authority and its security apparatuses, as well as the question of whether Israel remains captive to outdated concepts even after the October 7 massacre.
Throughout the three episodes, the investigation presented a worrying picture of an armed force that has grown over the years, alongside incitement mechanisms that, according to the interviewees, produce new generations of terrorists. In the final episode, the spotlight turned to the Israeli side and the perception that the Palestinian Authority is still "the lesser evil" and a party with which security coordination can be maintained.
Amit Asa argued that the root of the problem lies in how Israel defines the threat: "It is an issue of agenda. Perhaps the central thing in the agenda is the definition of the enemy. Who is my enemy? Once you define the Palestinian Authority as an enemy, the work procedures look different."
"Operating security apparatuses for the benefit of terror"
Maurice Hirsch presented an even sharper claim regarding the role of the Authority and its security apparatuses: "You realize that the Palestinian Authority operates the security apparatuses for the benefit of terror, for the benefit of achieving its goals, which is the destruction of the State of Israel."
Hirsch also referred to the Oslo Accords, noting that violations by the Authority continued for years without an adequate response from Israel. "There is no clause in the Oslo Accords that they did not violate. None. And all these years we simply ignored it," he said.
"It will not be another October 7"
One of the sharpest warnings in the episode came from military correspondent Hillel Biton Rosen, who claimed that terror elements in Judea and Samaria are already analyzing the October 7 attack to learn from it for the next scenario. "Today they are studying the videos of October 7, drawing lessons, and planning the next event," he warned.
According to him, the scenario to be feared is not an exact repetition of the Hamas attack, but an even broader event: "It will not be another October 7. It is October 7 combined with a second 'Guardian of the Walls'. This is an event that the security establishment does not know how to stop."
"Wake up from the concept"
Channel 14 presenter Lital Shemesh also directed criticism at Israeli policy. According to her, the main lesson should be a change in the perception that there is a partner on the other side with whom one can deal. "I think my main conclusion is the criticism towards us; to wake up from the concept that we were captive to, that there is some partner there with whom one can deal because he is the lesser evil," she said.
Shemesh argued that a security change alone is not enough, but a deep change in education and incitement mechanisms is also required: "Until we carry out a de-Nazification process in the Palestinian Authority and in the Gaza Strip, more generations of terrorists will continue to grow here." Thus concluded the series, which placed one question at the center: Is the threat developing in Judea and Samaria being identified in time, or might Israel discover again, too late, that the signs were there all along?
