59 Years Later: IDF Posts on the Syrian Border Connect to the National Power Grid
The Israel Electric Corporation and the defense establishment are investing approximately 28 million shekels to connect 12 IDF posts along 41 kilometers of challenging terrain. Five posts, including Tel Hazaka and Nahal Golan, are already connected.
The Israel Electric Corporation is currently executing a project to connect 12 IDF posts along the Syrian border to the national power grid, replacing the reliance on independent generators. This project, conducted in cooperation with the defense establishment with an investment of approximately 28 million shekels, is part of the corporation's initiative to secure vital electrical infrastructure for national needs.
The project involves constructing electrical infrastructure across 41 kilometers of complex, rugged terrain. Transitioning to a permanent grid connection will ensure a more stable power supply, reduce logistical dependence on generator refueling, and provide the necessary capacity for advanced systems operating at these posts.
To date, the Israel Electric Corporation has successfully connected five posts: Samakat, Tel Hazaka, Post 111, Post 160, and the Nahal Golan post. Work on two additional sites, Tel Fares and Post 214, is expected to conclude in the coming weeks.
The remaining five posts—Post 117, Booster, Gadi, Post 105, and Tel Machfi—are currently in the engineering design phase, with connection work scheduled for the coming months.
The Israel Electric Corporation stated:
"The company is working in cooperation with the defense establishment to connect vital infrastructure and facilities to the national power grid, as part of its activity to develop national electricity infrastructure and provide for the needs of the economy and the state in both routine and emergency situations."
