At age 49: Musician Mati Gurion, son of Israel Gurion, has passed away
Mati was a guitarist and drummer, performed occasionally alongside his father and even participated in the recording of the 2013 album "Shirim HaDuda'im". He passed away after a battle with a severe illness. "Our dear son Mati passed away this evening. Rest in peace, my beloved, my heart is crying," his mother wrote.

Musician Mati Gurion passed away this evening (Friday) at the age of 49 after a battle with a severe illness. Mati was the son of the renowned singer and musician Israel Gurion.
Mati was a talented guitarist and drummer. He performed occasionally alongside his father and participated in the recording of the 2013 album "Shirim HaDuda'im". For many years, he worked at the iconic music store "HaOzen HaShlishit" ("The Third Ear") in Tel Aviv.
Mati's mother, Miki, announced his death in a post on Facebook:
"Our dear son Mati Gurion passed away this evening. Rest in peace, my beloved, my heart is crying."
The team at "HaOzen HaShlishit" also shared their grief:
"HaOzen HaShlishit mourns and is pained by the untimely passing of our friend Mati Gurion, of blessed memory. A man of the 'Third Ear' for many years, a guitarist, drummer, and a passionate lover of music and cinema. A gifted expert, cynical, funny, and beloved — we are very, very sad. Our condolences to the family and friends."
His father, 90-year-old Israel Gurion, is a legendary singer, actor, comedian, and composer, with a career spanning over six decades. He was a member of the duo "HaDuda'im" with Benny Amdursky, and performed in groups such as "Shlishiyat Gesher HaYarkon" and "HaTov, HaRa VeHaNa'ara". In 2024, Gurion's wife revealed that he was suffering from dementia and had become dependent on care, and he has not performed since.
