25,000 cannabis seedlings: dozens of drug greenhouses exposed in the Negev
The greenhouses were located from the air during a police operation in the Ramat Negev area. Alongside approximately 25,000 seedlings, 15 kg of cannabis ready for distribution were seized. Additionally, dozens of rifle bullets were found.
Approximately 25,000 seedlings suspected to be cannabis and 15 kg of material suspected to be a drug were seized during an operation by Southern District Border Police (Magav) fighters in the Ramat Negev area. As part of the operation, 56 greenhouses where the seedlings were grown were located, as well as nine additional empty greenhouses.
The operation took place during the last week, with the participation of Southern District Magav fighters and Magav K9 units, inspectors from the Green Patrol, and IDF forces from the Southern Command. The greenhouses were located with the assistance of the police aerial unit.
According to the police, a total of 24,854 seedlings suspected to be cannabis were located, alongside approximately 15 kg of material suspected to be a cannabis-type drug that was ready for distribution. In addition, the forces located 118 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, which were transferred for destruction.
The police stated that the operation was intended to harm the cultivation and distribution of drugs in the area, and in particular the supply sources for teenagers. Furthermore, the operation was intended to allow the use of firing zones in the area for training purposes and to reduce criminal activity in the space.
