Real Madrid has taken a significant step toward signing Yan Diomande. According to journalist Santi Aouna, the 19-year-old winger has given the green light for a move to Los Blancos, and negotiations are currently underway between Real and RB Leipzig to reach an agreement on the deal.
According to the report, discussions between the clubs are progressing around a deal worth approximately 120 million euros, including bonuses. Just this past night (between Friday and Saturday), it was revealed that Real had submitted an initial offer to Leipzig of 90 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses, which was rejected by the German club.
Paris Saint-Germain appears to be the big loser in this struggle. The French champions had already reached an agreement with Diomande regarding his personal terms and were confident they could complete the deal, but according to Aouna, they are not willing to pay the higher amount required to meet Leipzig's demands.
Real entered the race only in the last few days after identifying Diomande as one of their primary targets to strengthen the attack. The club is reportedly looking for a player capable of playing on the right wing, partly against the backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the future of Brahim Diaz.
Leipzig has stated that it wants to keep the Ivory Coast international, whose contract is valid until the summer of 2030, and even attempted to extend his deal. However, it was recently reported that Diomande deleted most of his club-related posts from his Instagram account, a move that fueled speculation that he will leave this summer.
Diomande participated in all four of Ivory Coast's matches in the last World Cup. Last season, he scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in 33 Bundesliga matches, helping Leipzig finish in third place and qualify for the Champions League.
